In accordance with a P.L. 1996, c. 53, the NJ Department of Community Affairs (NJ DCA) regularly undertakes a review of newly released model codes, solicits public comments, and adopts amended versions.
On March 4, 2019, NJ DCA released 51 N.J.R. 285(a) soliciting comments on proposed adoption (with amendments) of various 2018 code updates.
On June 14, the comments were summarized, along with responses, in a final Rule Adoption document. It specified that the new codes would be adopted on September 3, 2019.
In September, 2019, NJ DCA released Bulletin No. 19-2, which provides guidance on compliance with the new Energy Subcode, including a form for documenting air sealing details.
